Ministries

  • Children

At Calvary Chapel Cumberland, it is our desire to come alongside parents in the task of raising the next generation of passionate followers of Christ. We accomplish this in several ways.  Since the parent is the first and most important teacher of their children, we want to provide parents with tools to help them successfully lead their children in the ways of  God on a daily basis.

If you have children ages 6 months to 12 years, they are encouraged to attend King's Kids for the 10:00 AM service.

For children age 6 months to 4 years old, take the stairs to your right as you enter the church.  A church greeter will help you, and a children's ministry volunteer will meet you upstairs for check-in and give you a numbered card.  The children will be in the Little Ones room where they will play, color, and hear a Bible story.  They will be offered a small snack and water.

For children ages 5 through 12, a children's ministry volunteer will be located in the lobby to sign in your child and give you a numbered card.  The children will first worship in the sanctuary with the congregation, and then be led upstairs for children's church.

Children ages 5 to 12 years old will be using curriculum that covers the entire Bible, from Genesis through Revelation.  Your child will learn every major story in the Bible along with essential doctrines of the Christian faith using  storytelling, hands-on activities, and games.

  • First Sunday Fellowship

On the first Sunday of the month,  the 10:00 AM service is followed by a pot-luck style meal. Feel free to bring a food item to share, but this is not required. All are welcome for this wonderful time of fellowship!

  • His Hands

His Hands Ministry exists as an opportunity for the body of Christ to meet the practical needs of His church at Calvary Chapel Cumberland. By serving each other and bearing one another's burdens, we become a tangible extension of God's love. We are extensions of His tenderness, His love, and His care to those in the fellowship during times of need.

His Hands Ministry allows those in the fellowship to exercise the gifts of mercy, grace, compassion, hospitality, and brotherly love.  No need or request is too big or too small.  We are His hands and we are here to serve one another and come along side each other in times of need.  From help with daily tasks, transportation, providing meals, running errands, house or car maintenance, etc...  this is His ministry for His church and we are His hands.

If you have a request or need, please contact the church office at 301-724-4000 or email hishands@calvarycumberland.org.

  • Life Change Bible Study

In this inductive Bible Study, you will  participate with others not only in learning God's Word, but in grasping a deeper personal experience of His message. This life changing encounter with scripture will help you become spiritually enriched and know God more deeply. It will also provide an opportunity to enjoy deeper Christian fellowship as you grow close to God and other believers.

This study meets at the church every Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8 PM. A new session studying the book of Romans will begin on January 4, 2024 and will end May 16th, 2024.

For more information about the study and the book that will be used, contact Wayne at 240-522-8949 or amensinger@atlanticbb.net.

  • Discipleship

"Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another"

    (Proverbs 27:17)

At Calvary Chapel Cumberland, we seek, encourage, and challenge one another while building our lives on the Word of God.  All are welcome to meet with us once a month (first Wednesday of the month at 7:00 PM) for this Discipleship Group.  For more information, please call the church office at 301-724-4000.

  • Prayer

On Sunday evenings at 7:00 PM all are invited to gather at the church and pray. Those having a heart to seek the Lord in prayer, and to pray for other people and circumstances both within and outside the church fellowship, gather to lift these needs to the Lord. Participants pray as the Spirit leads them. Prayers are focused on the needs the Holy Spirit puts on our hearts, as well as our thirst to get to know Him better and to nourish His life in us.

If you or someone you know needs prayer, please contact us by filling out the form below, and we will pray for you.

  • Women

"Strength and honor are her clothing.  She shall rejoice in time to come."  Proverbs 31:25

The women of Calvary Chapel Cumberland gather the third Saturday of each month, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM.  Our desire is to grow together through studying God's Word in fellowship with one another. Beginning with worship, each session is followed by a sharing, group discussion, prayer and fellowship.
